Octopus Celebrates 11th year Of Service

Hong Kong’s favourite means of payment is in its 11th year. Used by almost 95% of the city’s population to pay up bus fares, metro tickets or to make payments at fast food restaurants and vending machines. Octopus has more than 15 million users who transact worth HK$ 80 million on a daily basis. The card uses magnetic readers to pay and has different beep sounds to inform whether the payment has been made or not or does it need recharging. The card has gained enough popularity and will soon be launched in Dubai and the Netherlands. Read more about it here.
