Google Patents Mobile Payment
Google like everyone else knows that the future growth will come largely from advertising to mobile users. So in an attempt to tap into this future Google had filed for a patent for it’s GPay Mobile payment system, way back in February 2006. Using text messages, the system would authenticate payments, debit the purchaser’s account, and credit the seller’s account. Described as “a computer-implemented method of effectuating an electronic on-line payment,’ the system referred to in the patent application is similar to existing mobile-payment services, including the mobile version of PayPal.
