Find A Better Bank
A new website launched a few weeks back that allows you to look for a better bank than your own, has been garnering a fan club. Called Find a Better Bank, the makers of this website currently cover the top 50 US banks plus a handful of smaller regional banks with more banks being added every week. Technology has been used to an optimal and interesting point, with Google maps identifying banks closest to consumers in a certain area. Locations are sourced from the FDIC and are updated with information provided by banks and credit unions. In- house research is conducted about banks’ checking account offerings and immediate plans include rolling out the ability to compare interest rates and savings account information. With feedback coming in from users, most of who want to see smaller, local banks on the site; new banks and credit unions are updated every week. It is interesting to identify who will gain the most out of this service except of course, the consumers. Our guess is that a service like this will put smaller, community-owned banks in the limelight; banks with no frills but excellent service will stand to gain as more and more people use the website as a vehicle to voice their experiences and opinions.
