Banking on Time
Claiming to “weave community – one hour at a time”, Time Banking is a social change movement that has been started in 22 countries and across 6 continents. Putting it very simply, Time Banking is simply about spending an hour doing something for somebody in your community. That hour goes into the Time Bank as a Time Dollar. Then you have a Time dollar to spend on having someone doing something for you. Reciprocity is used to strengthen communities, to build trust and restore faith in each other. For people who want to join this wonderful service, but do not have a Time Bank near them, can start their own. TimeBanks USA will get them going with a Start Up Kit and can provide orientations and training on request. Sign up for their newsletter, watch their video or simply know more here.
