First Direct Goes All Black And White

First Direct has indeed made a mark as a bank; some bloggers have also touted it as the “First Nearly Perfect Bank”. Now First Direct has decided to go all black and white, starting with their website. Sure, it makes for a refreshing change from the other that we see everyday. But is there more to the choice of this design, an indication of their black and white services perhaps? In the First Direct site, just a tiny HSBC logo features in its original red and white hues. Interestingly, the theme has been carried forward to the television commercials as well. The commercials feature a sarcastic man in black, played by comedian Matt King (knows for his hilarious histrionics in Peep Show) and a patient man in white, played by actor Pip Torrens. The commercials talk about various features of First Direct, like the fact that they give away £100 on the opening of an account, and the fact that all their telephone calls are answered by genuinely friend people and not machine.
