10 principles of Social Communication
IPA UK has a list of 10 that urges marketers and advertisers to relook at the way they communicate. While some of the things on the list may not be new in themselves, the compilation itself could be a handy reference guide for us practitioners. The list: People not consumers. Social agenda, not business agenda. Continuous conversation, not campaigning. Long term impact, not quick fixes. Marketing with people, not to people. Being authentic, not persuasive. Perpetual Beta. Technology changes, people don’t. Change will never be this slow again. Measure and evaluate your social media strategies. There is a lot to read under each one of those principles. The entire thing is here. Also unconnected, but on the IPA site, how online media owners are improving their service levels here.
